The Sudanese-American Society in Connecticut, Inc.

General Objectives and Activities

 

• To foster a spirit of brotherhood and co-operation among the members of the Sudanese Community in the State of Connecticut.

• To provide facilities for social intercourse by holding social gatherings, picnics, conversational meetings, etc.

• To organize social service.

• To convene communal conferences and

• To generally do such acts and things as are deemed necessary for the promotion of the intellectual, moral, social, physical, economic and general well being of the members of the Community; provided that the Association shall NOT carry on any political propaganda.

• To promote a positive image of the Sudanese society in Connecticut.

• To promote and assist in the development of the cultural, educational, recreational and social well-being of the Sudanese residents within the community

• To enhance the integration and communication between the school system and the community.

• To act as the community's elected advisory body: an integral part of on-going activities and planning in the Community School Program in an effort to improve the quality and character of education

• Providing a forum for the discussion of issues, and, as far as possible, for consensus on the best interests of the Community, and bringing the conclusions t o public attention.

• Cooperating with and supporting other community organizations in community activities and projects and in the pursuit of common interests.

• Keeping the community informed about available activities and opportunities which may be of benefit to the Sudanese Community.

• Initiating social, educational, recreational and other new programs as shall, from time to time, be deemed desirable.

• Accepting grants, donations, gifts, legacies and bequests in order to carry out the above objects. (Upon receiving the 501 'C' (3) Non Profit Status from the Internal Revenue Service).
